Why Testimonials Outperform Your Services Page

You can list every certification you have. It means more when a client describes what changed. Here's how to actually use that.

You can list every certification and framework you've trained in. It won't land the way it does when a real client describes what changed for her — that's not a copywriting trick, it's just how trust works between two people who've never met.

That's the whole reason testimonials and transformation stories outperform almost every credential section on a coaching site, and it's also why most coaches waste them. A one-line quote — "Working with her changed my life!" — barely counts as proof. It's the online version of a shrug, no matter how genuine it is.

A testimonial that actually works usually has three things: where she was before, what specifically shifted, and what's different now. "Changed my life" tells a stranger nothing concrete. "I'd tried three other coaches and still felt stuck in the same pattern — six weeks in, I finally understood why I kept self-sabotaging, and for the first time I actually followed through on a plan" tells a hesitant reader exactly what to expect if she's in a similar spot.

If your current testimonials are all short and glowing but vague, it's worth going back to a few former clients and asking better questions: what almost stopped her from booking, what specifically shifted, what would she tell someone still on the fence. Most clients are genuinely happy to give you a proper answer if you ask directly instead of requesting "a quick review."

And don't bury the good ones. Proof works best placed right before the moment someone's deciding — not tucked onto a separate testimonials page nobody clicks through to. If someone's hesitating on your offer page, that's exactly where a real transformation story belongs, doing the convincing for you.
